Application 

TVG hydraulic internal cutter cuts and retrieves tubing during well interventions. 

Design 

The hydraulic internal cutter consists of a sub that connects the tool to the motor shaft, a body with inserted knives, piston, wedge, spring, main body, sleeve, stabilizer and nut.
With the help of rotation and circulation, the rod with wedges forces knives out from the body slots. Spring between rod and the body prevents knives from jumping out abruptly. When the cut is complete and pressure drops, the knives retract into the body slots. Installed at the bottom of the cutter, the stabilizer minimizes play of the cutter inside the tube. The stabilizer consists of three drag springs screwed onto the sleeve. When cutter enters the tube, drag springs press against the walls, acting as a plain bearing.
